Economists too need a code of ethics, says study
Geneva, 22 Nov (Kanaga Raja) -- There is need for a code of ethics for economists in light of the fact that in the vast majority of the time, academic financial economists have failed to identify their affiliations with private or public financial institutions and possible conflicts of interest when writing about or commenting on financial policy issues.
This is one of the main findings of a study by the Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Dear friends,
It is a pleasure to be back today at this auspicious university, not as Belgian Ambassador to Bulgaria, but as Director of the Asia Pacific directorate at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The topic of today will be related to my current position and in particular considering the Belgian EU Presidency of the second half of 2010.
Asia is generally defined as referring to East Asia, South-East Asia and South Asia, excluding thus the Middle East and Central Asian countries as Kazakstan and Uzbekistan. Nor is Russia included although most of its territory lays in Asia.
